About Us
My career began with sculpture and pottery working mostly in porcelain. Pottery allowed me the luxury of being home to bake cookies and be there for my daughter. She is going on 35 so I think it is time for something new. I have given classes on pottery, hand-made paper, origami and am obsessed with Ikebana. I am now making anything I can put a flower arrangement in.
After attending a fiber arts show, I fell in love with felting and have been doing it non-stop. I can't seem to put my felting needle down.
My husband and I ran art galleries for years. The name was Scalzo Gallery and I am sticking with that name although now all the work is my own. At one time, we represented over 50 artists. I still do as much pottery as I can in the Florida heat, and do paper, felting, origami, jewelry at night in air conditioning.
I hope you enjoy my site. I love making art of all kinds and I love flowers. I grow them, press them and make cards with them. I feel like I am sending a bouquet to all my friends when they go out. As they say in Ikebana-Friendship through flowers,
Joyce Scalzo
